Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani (1851-1878)

Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani (1878-1913)

The founder and builder of Qatar, he was a military leader, a judge and a mufti, as well as a knight, a poet, and a man of generosity and magnanimity. He fought many wars to defend Qatar, and the dangers did not deter him from storming the difficulties, deterring injustice and renting the oppressed.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani (1913 - 1949)

The third ruler of the State of Qatar, he was known for his piety, integrity and wide knowledge. The first oil well was drilled in Qatar during his reign, and he proved during his negotiations with the oil companies that he is a brilliant negotiator and a far-sighted statesman.

Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Al Thani (1949-1960)

The fourth ruler of Qatar, he combined wisdom in managing the affairs of the country with humility, forbearance, love of benevolence, and doing good. During his reign, Qatar actually entered the era of oil by exporting the first shipment of it, and the country entered a new phase of economic and social development.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani (1960-1972)

The fifth ruler of the State of Qatar and the first to hold the title of Emir of Qatar. He was known for his dignity and wisdom, for deliberation in dealing with matters, and for striving for consensus and collecting the word. During his reign, a Shura Council was established, and the first temporary basic system of government in the country was issued.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani (1972-1995)

The sixth ruler of the State of Qatar, his reign witnessed many achievements; The government was reorganized and the temporary statute was amended. The state concluded a number of agreements to extract and market oil, and schools and institutes were established and the first university in the country was established.

His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani (1995-2013)

The former Emir of the State of Qatar, one of its historical leaders, and the builder of its modern renaissance, during his reign occupied a high position in the Arab and international arenas, and a broad economic, social and cultural renaissance was launched in it, and the gross domestic product doubled more than 24 times, and the per capita GDP increased by about six times, and the gross added value jumped. In the hydrocarbon sector, from 11 billion to 403 billion Qatari riyals. During his rule, the permanent constitution of the country was promulgated, and the "Qatar National Vision 2030" was drawn up, which seeks to promote the advancement of a knowledge-based economy, and transform Qatar into an advanced country capable of achieving sustainable development and ensuring the continuation of a decent life for its people, generation after generation. On June 25, 2013, His Highness announced the handing over of the reins of power to his Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
